Summary: The rescue attempt did not go as planned

Once upon a time, there was a princess trapped in a tower, and a young knight set out to save her from horrible, draconic captor. Unfortunately, all did not go as planned.

“What do you mean you do not want to come with me?” the knight said.

“I mean, I am not coming you because if I did would be forced to marry you, and you look rather poor,” the princess said primly.

“But a dragon is holding you captive!”

“Yes, and that dragon has the quite the hoard of gold and jewels, and he lets me see it sometimes, and he keeps me quite comfortable. You look as though you have never even touched a piece of gold in your life, let alone owned any.”

“But, but—"

“No, no,” she said. “I am not going with you. Good bye. Good day. Do not come back until you are rich,” she said and pushed him out her window.

This is priceless. The knight assumes that he'll rescue the princess but she refuses because he's poor. She is used to the finer things in life and expects her rescuer to keep her in that life style. Hopefully, the knight will go out and amass a fortune before he tries again or just search for an easier quest. Slight error - that dragon has the quite the hoard [the dragon has quite the hoard]
