Challenge 3: Weekly Quick Fic 1
Title: The Birth and Death of a Relationship
Prompt: beginnings and ends
Bonus? Y
Word Count: 134
Rating: T
Original/Fandom: Sailor Moon
Pairings (if any) Endymion/Serenity
Warnings (Non-Con/Dub-Con etc): character death
Summary: They were never supposed to meet, and in the end, she wishes they hadn't.
It begins like this: Serenity is leaning over a flower, its petals the palest shade of pink, marveling the beauty of Earth. It is, in every conceivable way, the polar opposite of the moon, and her senses are singing as she embraces the difference, when the hairs on the back of her neck stand up, and looking over her shoulder, she is greeted by the sight of a man.
It ends like this: The moon is dead, and Endymion is dead, and she is dying, and so is everyone else. In that moment, she hates Endymion more than anyone else, even more than Beryl and Metalia, and wishes she had run far, far away when she had caught him looking at her, even if her days with him had been some of the best.
Title: Unexceptional
Prompt: Pink
Bonus? Y
Word Count: 219
Rating: K+
Original/Fandom: Naruto
Pairings (if any) none
Warnings (Non-Con/Dub-Con etc): none
Summary: Their pink hair is the only exceptional trait of the Haruno clan, as far as Sasuke can tell.
Sasuke had never understood the Haruno clan. Most of the other ninja clans had some sort of clan jutsu, from the Uchiha Sharingan to the Hyuuga Byakugan to the Yamanaka Mind Body Switch Technique; every clan had something special about them.
Except the Haruno. Sure, they were minorest of minor clans, but they were still a clan; however, the only thing that distinguished them was their pink hair, which seemed to give them absolutely no advantages whatsoever, and was really more of a disadvantage as far as he could see.
Even after plenty of time spent with Sakura, he could find nothing extraordinary about them. They were run of the mill ninja whose only distinction outside of their hair was that they had once been part of Uzushiogakure. Sakura was the only even remotely exceptional ninja that the clan had put out in generations, and her claim to fame was partly due to her position as Tsunade’s student and her relationship with him and Naruto.
As he watched Sakura and her parents do their shopping, smiling and laughing even while they went about the most inane of tasks, he decided that Haruno truly deserved their spot as the least important of Konohagakure’s clans, for they had nothing at all to offer to the world except an undesirable hair color.
