Title: Someday
Word Count: 333
Rating: T
Original/Fandom: Bleach
Pairings (if any): Ichihime
Warnings (Non-Con/Dub-Con/etc): character death
Summary: Someday, she'll go back to that place.
She sees Kurosaki-san by Ichigo’s grave sometimes. His is right next to his mother’s, and both of them are in the same graveyard as her brother. And Ishida. And Chad.
She’ll make the rounds, first her brother, then Chad, then Ishida, and then Ichigo. It’s always in that order. She never sees anyone at the graves though. No one else would go to Sora’s grave, and she supposes that Chad’s grandfather and Ishida’s father just never visit at the same time as she does.
But she sees Kurosaki-san sometimes.
Whenever she sees him, she’ll pause, hesitant to join him, but he always knows that she is there.
“Ah, Inoue-san, it’s good to see you,” he always says, looking over his shoulder at her. He’ll smile at her and invite her to join him. They’ll stand in silence for a moment, and then he’ll turn to go, but his parting words are always an invitation.
“You’ll always be welcome in my home, Inoue-san.”
She tells him that she’ll come, and soon, but in the three years that Ichigo has been dead, she has yet to step in his family’s home.
She’s been there several times. She can still remember the exact layout of the house, and how the second time she had visited, Kurosaki-san had swept her up in a hug, rejoicing over the fact that his son wasn’t hopeless when it came to love.
Both had been quick to correct him, no, they weren’t dating, just friends.
Now though, she can’t step into his house. She wants to, but she afraid that if she does go, she’ll collapse in grief. And she’s spent three years building herself back up. She can’t throw it away in a night.
Because Orihime can smile now, even though she can still remember the way Ichigo felt in her arms when he died with his blood soaking staining even her skin, even though she still asks why she survived.
Someday though, she’ll accept Kurosaki-san’s offer. But not now.
