Heavy silks and jewels were draped over her in every shade of the rainbow. More gifts, from beautiful gemstones to less extravagant, but still valuable, gifts of rice were piled around her golden throne. From her high perch she dispassionately watched her worshippers bow and beg for mercy and compassion. Fear motivated their loyalty, not some sense of love.
Once, when she had newly been made a goddess, she had been benevolent, but time had long since jaded her, reducing her to a cold goddess that barely cared for her followers anymore- why should she when they always betrayed her?
