The house was empty. There was just her, all alone. Everything else had been stripped away. Ratty old furniture half-filled the rooms and her food supply was slowly dwindling, and she was still hungry.
But where was she supposed to go? Her mother had told her to stay put. That was a long time ago though. Her mother’s face was blurry in her mind; there was dark hair and a pale face, but what else? She could not remember anything else.
All she knew was that her mother was supposed to come back, and then she would not be lonely anymore.
